Following an underwhelming 2018/19 campaign, Real Madrid fans found a reason to smile once again with the performances Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez and Eden Hazard produced against Levante.
The Frenchman took on the mantle of scoring after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and, following his 30 goals in all competitions last season, he has already scored four times in the first four official games.
Benzema is Zinedine Zidane‘s first-choice striker and, at the age of 31 he is more mature than ever in front of the goal, as he has 152 goals in LaLiga Santander and is the 19th top scorer in the history of the competition.
Meanwhile, James Rodriguez was one of Los Blancos’ best performers in the win against Levante, producing various chances and an assist to Benzema for the team’s second goal.
Luka Modric‘s absence due to injury urged Zidane to use the Colombian in the middle third and this move paid dividends.
Although James was at Real Madrid‘s exit door last summer, he is now considered as one of the best signings of the club along with Eden Hazard, who made his LaLiga Santander debut on Saturday.
The Belgian came off the bench and, although he didn’t score, he expressed his euphoria for Real Madrid‘s first home victory this season.
“I am happy to play and win,” he said.
“When you return from an injury it is hard to pick up the pace and you need some time.
“The most important thing was to win and we did a good job”.
