Agent Jonathan Barnett has insisted that Gareth Bale is happy at Real Madrid.
The Welshman has fallen out of favour under Zinedine Zidane and was left out of the squad for the Madrid derby on Saturday.
“Gareth is very happy over there,” Barnett told TalkSport.
“And let’s be realistic: for most clubs he is out of their league, financially.
“It is all well and good to say, ‘give up that money and go and play somewhere else’, but it is not all about money.
“It is about his lifestyle and his children, who have grown up in Madrid.”
There was talk of Bale leaving during the January transfer window and a Tottenham return in particular.
“No,” Barnett said when asked if Spurs had made an offer.
“[Chairman Daniel Levy] may have [visited Madrid], it’s not for me to say whether he did or didn’t.”
Bale has always been sounded out for a return to his old club, so could this happen when his contract at Real Madrid expires in 2022?
“I don’t think so, no,” Barnett said. “He’s in a very fortunate position.
“When his contract is up hopefully he will sit down with me and his family and decide what he wants to do.”
