Gareth Bale did not return to Valdebebas with his Real Madrid teammates after his side’s 1-0 loss away to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday night.
Head coach Zinedine Zidane had granted the players two and a half days rest, and Bale had asked for permission to go directly from Vallecas to the Madrid-Barajas Airport, where a private plane was waiting for him.
Bale, who had a very poor game against Rayo, waited by the team bus before a private car took him directly to the airport. He was the only player who did not join his teammates on the team bus, a further indication that the Welshman is moving further away from Los Blancos.
“I don’t know if Bale is focused,” Zidane said after the Rayo defeat.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the Frenchman will not be counting on Bale for next season.
