Asensio leaves Spain camp with knee injury

02 Sep 2020

Marco Asensio has pulled out of the Spain squad after suffering an injury in training.

The forward had been one of the players selected by Luis Enrique to play this month’s Nations League matches against Germany and Ukraine.

However, after feeling pain in his left knee – the one which he had surgery on last summer – during training, he underwent tests at Las Rozas.

These tests detected some swelling in his knee.

Asensio will now return to Real Madrid and undergo further, more detailed tests.

It’s an unfortunate setback for the player, who had received a Spain call-up for the first time in over 18 months.
