Nasser Al-Khelaifi will once again lead Paris Saint-Germain‘s project after the departure of Antero Henrique as sporting director and the subsequent return of Leonardo to that role, though the Qatari is now going to rule the club with an iron fist.
The PSG president is going to explain his plans for next season during a press conference at the Parc des Princes on Monday, but he has already given an indication as to his stance in an interview with the French magazine France Football, which will be published on Tuesday.
After a year in which there have been a few incidents at PSG, notably Kylian Mbappe publicly demanding more responsibility at the Ligue 1 awards, Al-Khelaifi believes that it is time for a change to the club’s attitude with their star players.
“The players are going to have to assume their responsibilities even more than before,” Al-Khelaifi told France Football.
“It has to be completely different. They will have to do more, work more… They are not here to have fun.
“And if they don’t agree with this point of view, the doors are open. Ciao!
“I no longer want to have superstar behaviour.”
Though Al-Khelaifi wants PSG to have a stricter, more hard-working regime from next season, he insists that Leonardo will have the power to deal with the sporting side of the club.
“In two minutes, we reached a full agreement [for Leonardo to return],” he noted.
“He’s going to have full sporting power.”
