Accelerated work at the Bernabeu: Goodbye to the roof and heaters

20 Dec 2019

The ongoing work at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is continuing to pick up pace, despite it being mid-season.

In what is an unprecedented feat for the stadium, it will completely change its appearance without the sporting side suffering.

As it stands, fans can still attend the Bernabeu as normal with no inconvenience, which is hard to believe given the size of the cranes and machinery surrounding the stadium.

The most visible change is the disappearance of a corner, while soon work will begin to remove the cover over the north and south ends.

After the game against Athletic Club, the cranes will get to work and the roof will start to be removed, as will the heaters that were installed at the top of the stadium.

All of these steps are towards the installation of a spectacular new roof, which will be retractable.

The construction of the new towers, B and C, has begun and the old structures will operate as support for the roof.

Work has also begun on the north and south towers.
