10 reasons to believe Real Madrid can beat PSG

03 Feb 2018

With a fortnight to go until Real Madrid take on Paris Saint-Germain there is some optimism with their victories over Deportivo La Coruna and Valencia, that follow a poor season in general where they are out of LaLiga contention and the Copa del Rey.

Here are ten reasons to believe that Real can overcome their French opponents.

1 – Rediscovered goal threat: They have hit 11 goals in their last two LaLiga games, that suggests they have turned the corner as they have struggled for goals so far.

2 – The BBC at last: Hit by injuries, finally Zidane can count on his front three. Cristiano Ronaldo is still the focal point but Bale is offering goals and assists and they are still waiting for more from Benzema.

3 – Keylor Navas, the survivor: He appeared the fall guy in the move to bring in Kepa but once again it looks as though he will keep his place in goal with that deal falling through. At the same time he has been making some important blocks.

4 – Captain returns: Sergio Ramos, the soul of Real Madrid since Lisbon, 2014, will be fit to face PSG. He will be important on the pitch for his play and his personality.

5 – Nacho a guarantee: Although the loss of Carvajal is important, Zidane has a replacement that he can rely on to face Neymar. Nacho has been the best full-back this season in the eyes of many.

6 – ZZ has been here before: Zidane has taken the team out of a crisis. It is said that Zidane is facing a new situation but he did take over a team that had problems.

7 – Marcelo is back to being himself: The Brazilian has overcome a drop in form that cannot be forgotten and he is providing more danger down the left.

8 – Kroos and Modric: They are the heart of the Madrid play and they produced their best football in the Mestalla where they controlled the play.

9 – PSG have already been beaten: PSG are a very strong team but they were also dangerous in the 2015/16 season when Madrid went to Paris and won 1-0.

10 – The weight of history: No matter how badly are Madrid playing they should never be given up as dead and buried. It would not be the first time that the team is poor in LaLiga and ends up winning the Champions League.
